Making leaflets about the prevention of Dengue.Dengue fever is a disease caused by viruses that are transmitted to people by mosquitoes. Symptoms include high fever, headache, rash and muscle and joint pain. In severe cases there is serious bleeding and shock, which can be life threatening. Circulating these leaflets in residential societies giving them what symptoms people may experience: pain areas: in the abdomen, back, back of the eyes, bones, joints, or muscles Whole body: chills, fatigue, fever, or loss of appetite gastrointestinal: nausea or vomiting Skin: rashes or red spots Also common: bleeding, easy bruising, headache, or sore throat The spread of Dengue is by the female Aedes mosquito which bites as it needs the protein in blood to develop its eggs.The mosquito becomes infective approximately seven days after it has bitten a person carrying the virus. This is the extrinsic incubation period, during which time the virus replicates in the mosquito and reaches the salivary glands. Peak biting is at dawn and dusk. The average lifespan of an Aedes mosquito in Nature is two weeks. The mosquito can lay eggs about three times in its lifetime, and about 100 eggs are produced each time.The eggs can lie dormant in dry conditions for up to about nine months, after which they can hatch if exposed to favorable conditions, i.e. water and food.Breeding sites:1.
