About Club

Rotary Club of Pune Uptown was chartered on 8th April 1991.Our first project was adopting MANERWADI village as RCC in 1991 and poured every kind of help in developing the village with all kinds of resources  which after received the  “ADARSH GAON “ by Maharashtra  Govt. Another interesting program was done by Young artists for Fund – Raising  for starting Cancer Patient’s Relief Activities in 1995-96, We organized international Music festival by students from 10 different countries  in 1997-98. We distributed 2500 copies of booklets on awareness of Common Medical problems  in 1996-97. Another important project was in 1998-99,  organized Intercity forum on MICRO  CREDIT . Uptown had  organized donation of "Polio - Corrective Surgery Instruments – 1999-20. In Literacy Project- we did Distribution of Books / Maps in slum area in 2000  and gave donation of computers to Bhagini Nivedita Pratishthan in 2001. CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND  was developed at RCC MANERWADI in 2003. Uptowners donated " Medichlor " for purification of Drinking water to the affected areas during floods in Konkan Area 2005-06. Another very  ambitious project" Nai Roshani" - was doneTarget 1000  IOL Surgeries: Members enthusiastically participated in eye check up camp at Kashti near Shrigonda (Ahmednagar Dist). In  20013-15, Efforts were taken to create and build the image of ROTARY  by the creating a ROTARY E-LEARNING SCHOOL. .   Created history by broadcasting 24 episodes of 5 minutes duration on All India Radio, Pune Kendra by the name of ROTARY ANTRANG on every Saturday at 7.50 am. Also received Rs.72,126/- as PR grant from Rotary International. Received Rotary International PR Award for this project in 2007-2008. Won  5  Trophies  In Various  Categories Including Best  President  Award Of The Year.    2007-08   Inverters  With  Battery Back Up For Traffic Signals  And Maintenance  Till  Date  At  Khanduji Baba  Chowk, Pune. We did Matching  Grant  Project  With A Canadian Club By  Donating  Reading  Computers  To  The  Blind Schools At Alandi.  We   Donated  WHEEL  CHAIRS to Paraplegic  Home in 2010. Uptowners  Formed a biggest INTERACT  CLUB  of Asia in Shivaji Maratha High school in  2011. We held the most unusual Held  PRE – PETS   on Cruise ,  PETS  in  GOA  successfully  with  UPTOWNER’S   STYLE…OUR   many  SENIOR  PAST  PRESIDENTS  are  working  for  District  Assignments  every  year.
